Hi all,

A while back I was reading about the possibility of using Titebond II on plywood for waterproofing. Does anyone recall the thread? And if so, do you have a link to it?

Thanks in Advance for your help,

Lynn

I'm trying to finish my build. Exterior is 1/2 ply on the sides, 1/8 hardboard on top, covered with canvas glued on with titebond, and then painted with latex exterior paint.

We like it. The weave shows, but we are building a camping trailer, not a piece of furniture....

Take a look at my album and build journal for details.

the foamie section has lots of info in tb2. i did a test on a cardboard box covered in tb2. it was waterproof. someone else tested it on another cardboard box and filled with water. the water stayed. so it does appear to be good for waterproofing.

We were thinking luan for exterior and interior all sides and roof. We used 1/4" ply on the Inkwell and we're trying to go lighter and more aerodynamic with this build. Currently looking at the 1946 Airfloat trailer as a possible design.

Lynn,

Is the Ink Well still in the pre-deconstruction stage?

I like the Airfloat lines

BTW - I miss my Florida camping friends.

Hey Steve we miss you and Kim too. As far as the Inkwell goes it is being broken up now. We have taken just about everything we are going to salvage from it and put it in storage. We're hoping to use the frame and extend the trailer two feet and add a foot to the width, making it 7'x14'. We do want to keep it as light as possible so we can pull it with the new car.

Oh, btw, you might want to compare latex enamel to tb2. ;)

As in just using the latex enamel rather than glueing on the canvas with tb2?

yes that is how mike is doing his. he is using the paint in place of the glue. he did testing on some different adhesives. he found the paint worked better for him.
