Rear spare tire carrier

I have come to the conclusion that unfortunately I will have to mount the spare tire on the back of the trailer. I just can not add more weight to the tongue and the space between cross members under the trailer is not enough to accommodate mounting the tire underneath.
Looking for ideas I found this thread http://tnttt.com/viewto ... c&start=15

I seem to remember a set of plans?

One of my big concerns is having this fail catastrophically as some of our travels will be mild off road. And one of the design concerns is that this will be bolted through or welded to the aluminum frame.

what about the TV?

At least initially, I'm going to carry mine in the tow vehicle. I'll be moving so much gear out of the TV and into the teardrop that fitting a spare back there shouldn't be any problem at all.

I tack welded at cage for my spare underneath my frame just in front of the axle, but, I may move the mount to the rear of the trailer. (I opted for a slide out drawer for my cook top versus a hatch) Hoping to mount a removable hub so I could just switch hub and all if needed. I would like the option of changing the hub instead of having to install bearings on the side of the road. Hope to get back to my build in the next week after a short build vacation so I guess I will have a pic in a week or so.

I built one buy looking at the same pic's you posted. Mine is not quite the same. I used 1inch square tube to help keep the weight down. I check it before every trip and so far 2 years later no problems.
