Thanks.
I should have the ceiling in and the outside done by next weekend.

Going for the 3/4inch walls really saved alot of time.

In fact - if anyone lifes in the MidAtlantic area and would like the set of templates that I used you are welcomed to them

Bill,

Looking good. I was going to offer to lend a hand some weekend, but I just got a job (after 6 months off) and will start tomorrow! Maybe we can still get together some weekend. I'm up in York, PA. If you want to come by and see my Cubby, you are more than welcome.

Time flys when you are having fun! So, above all, enjoy your build.

Man Bill, you are really making progress! It's looking good.

While going thru your pictures I got nosey and looked at your Ireland pictures. My part Irish wife is very interested in all things Irish and she went to Ireland with her daughter last year. I showed her your pictures and she was in the exact same places you were. She even pointed at the table she sat at in your pics of the pubs in Doolin. She stayed in Ballyvaughan. She is planning another trip back to the same area for next summer. Maybe we could get some travel tips from you.

Steve-

The wood is maple - I thought of using a light coat of a transparnet stain - maybe a golden honey Then hit it with eoxy and then a varnish. I tell you the 3.4 in side really makes a big difference.

Finshed all the bulk heads and am lookig for some floorining This thing is going together really fast.

Purple-

Glad you had a chanvr to look at the other photos. My wife's family is from Lissay Casey and we spent only a week visiting all the relatives. First time there and so next we plan to go for about three weeks.
It was a lot of fun.

What is your wife's maiden name - mine is Reidy/Quinlivan

Any time you want to come by - just let me know. I am on a FAST TRACK and need to get a real basic unit done before the end of the month...........
Outside covered - and a basic galley.

Bill--you made some good decisions. It's looking GREAT.

Using the 3/4 sure DOES speed things up, and aside from running your wires (think roof), when you really think about it, does it really add THAT much weight?

First, you have no wall framing sticks. And if you just finish those surfaces and not have to use extra skins, like I had to use on both sides, that's more weight you're not adding.

By the way, just two things to watch for based on where you are now:

Are you putting in air? If not, cool. If so, and you're mounting it in the galley, cool. If you're mounting it over the tongue, you have to play with your spars there NOW to accommodate it.

Next is the ceiling vent--a MUST. I didn't buy a fan version, just a crankable vent (13 bucks!), but again, you have to frame for it.

It's 14 by 14, depending on what you're buying, so those two center spars should be 14 apart, or at least frame for a 14 by 14 opening.

However, someone saved MY life here with this info, and it would have been a total disaster, if he hadn't told me before hand:

Your spars are going one way, and you have your two sticks going the other way to give you that 14 opening, right? But you need two MORE short sticks (you using 1 by 2, right?) to the outside of those. This gives you something for the flange of the fan to screw into. Otherwise, the crew hits air, not wood.

This would have been a mess if I didn't know, and it's not something I would have ever guessed beforehand--I would only have discovered AFTER I was all skinned!

I think I can find out who saved my life in my "I am Sparticus" thread.

Ira-

You be right about that I basically beefed up the whole area were my $15 vent sits - so ther is plenty of board for those screws to grab into,

Day 3?

You make me SICK! Outstanding!

By the way, fill me in:

Did you drywall the cabin ceiling? In one of those shots, it looks like drywall/plaster. Also, one of the exterior shots shows white beteen some of the spars, but it doesn't look like insulation.

What are you up to? The public has a right to know.
