I trace out the trim ring and cut with jig saw
Cut from the outside, if you have a finished surface, cover your work area with painters tape so shoe of the saw doesn't scratch
The flanges on the newer windows are getting real small, so you need to be acurate.
If they came with foam gasket, i throw them away and use butyl tape, Seen too many production trailers leaking around the windows becasue of foam tape.
Screws, Just use pan heads, you will be able to figure how long you need by your wall thickness. I needed 1 1/2" screws

Before installing, just take all them screws, poke em into a piece of cardboard and spray paint them black, if your frames are black. I like satin black or semi gloss...gloss looks kinda yuk

Look at inside of window frame you will see groove where screws go, angle your screw gun away from the glass a bit, so the screws don't come out on the finished side of frame.
Thats how I got my window, i had to change it out because some doehead on the assembly line was just rammin the screws in and the screws penetrated the finished side. Oh well, I won that one...lol

After installing screws, trim the butyl around the window that has squeezed out, a plastic knitting needle works well, or very carefull with knife

I always run a bead of clear polyurethene caulk around window when done.

I try to leave my trace line there when I cut, I'd rather file or trim then have the hole too big

Which is worse...loosing your screws...or...having a screw loose!

Thanks for the instructions. I'm going to be installing windows soon so this is timed perfectly.
