Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I am finally going to cut the doors out of my sides. I just spent the last hour reading (alot of the older pics are gone. LIke photo bucket ones) and am still confused.

My sides are 3/4". Let me get this straight.

I am to wrap the door and the opening with C channel trim, and then add T trim to the door (except for the piano hinge which I like the idea of using a inner tube for a seal).

If the T trim is flush against the doors C trim, where does the weatherstrip fit??

I think I need someone to take some closeups or a drawing. Seems like there are only a few accepted methods to do this so I really don't know why I am

The door is the blue fine line tape, not the blue tape holding the cardboard together.

My weather stripping for the doors are on the inside. The seal is made with 2 layers of 1/4" ply. The outer layer is cut to exactly fit the door opening. The inner layer is cut about 3/4" smaller all around the opening. The seal fits in that slot and compresses down to 1/4". My door and jams are coated with graphite mixed epoxy to make it water proof. Details are in Steve Fredericks shop manual.

I see that you just added a jamb or trim. That makes sense, but what is the 3/4" C trim for? It wouldn't work in your case.

Is that only for when you skin the tear with aluminum? I am thinking that I am misunderstanding it's purpose.

I used 3/4" walls too. Here's how I did it -- I borrowed the double-seal idea from the Silver Beetle build. I didn't use c channel, but instead some angle aluminum and a piece of leftover 0.04" sheet to line the door opening. Some T moulding creates the outer door seal surface. I added 3/4" of poplar framing around the door opening and to the door itself to help keep things true. I added about 1/4" of shims under the hinges to create an offset "crush space" for the two seals. I haven't used the trailer in the rain yet but the door seals passed the water hose test.
