Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Just reread Madjacks thread on gasless struts.....How do you determine the length and the positioning of the mounting to the walls and hatch???? I may be overthinking this but seems to me if you don't have them positioned right....the hatch won't close or will only open halfway or so.....
