Foil backed bubble wrap insulation

Last Friday I found a few pieces of 3/4" foam blowing around the parking lot at my workshop. Good timing! Insulating the roof of the ToyBox is the next project. There are always places to use small chunks of foam.

The 3/4" foam will fit nicely between the tublar 'rafters' in the box. There is a little more space so I thought that using some bubble wrap would work. When I'm not sure about something I ask Google first. What I found is that the bubble wrap has an R1 rating...sorta.

This article pointed out some of the shortcomings of using bubble wrap as insulation rather than as a radian barrier.

I used bubble w/foil on my last cargo curves blue board foam on rest only about 12'' pieces but put 2 layers. Thinking I'm going to 45* the corners on my new trailer and use blue board behind the 45 molding. But let me say it was always cooler in the trailer then outside and never got to cold in there eather.

How much space should be left for "air when you are using insulation. if you used two layers of foam there would be virtually no space. I understand (and this is my first build) that at least 3/4 of an inch is optimum . Has that been your experience?

BROKEN LINKS!!!! Arge! the links of BC toys refer to mikenchell.com which is now tnttt.com but I can't get the switch even maually.
I want to use this stuff to insulate my hot water tanks underneath. 4' long 6" PVC with caps. and I was wondering how durable the outer surface is to resist stones and pebbles bouncing up?
