Question about sealing plywood edges & T molding.

I now have the T molding for my doors.

What kind and size of screws do you all use on that molding. And how far apart do you space the screws? My wall thickness is 1 1/2".

Also I ordered this T moulding seal. 3/16' thick X 3/8' wide X 17' long, for around the doors from Teardrop Fix-It-Shop. What I got was this foam tape, I thought I was ordering some kind of rubber seal. I've read in this forum that foam tape is good for keeping out the wind but is not very good for keeping out the rain.

So should I order something else or use the foam tape.

Another question about sealing the plywood edges. I don't have the funds to purchase that Epoxy Sealer from the Rot Doctor. I'm using a good quality house paint and primer for the exterior so could I use that or would something else work better that is not too expensive.

smokey bob, i used #6x1" flat head ss phillips at 6" apart. i drilled counter sink holes that way the screw is level with the metal. the best weatherstripping is the heavy black rubber type. your paint job will do i use s.s. screws because they don't rust

For sealing, I'm guessing the thinner the better for soaking in. Thick primer will sit on the surface. Maybe a water based sealer or polyurethane?....
