Hey everyone, Its been awhile since I posted, but my build is coming along. It is a benroy pattern on a 5 x 8 foot northern trailer frame. I will try to upload a few photos in the future.
I wondered if anyone could provide me with aluminum sheet metal suppliers in Florida (or the Southeast) that carry 040" x 5 foot wide x 10 foot long 5052 aluminum?
I can find sheets of 040" x 5 x 10 aluminum 3003 H14 at Phoenix metals in Tampa, and they deliver in Venice, but I was told that 3003 would corrode fairly quickly here in Florida.
Perhaps some of you have a better option to finish the outside. (The ouside walls were built using 1/2 in birch with 3/4 pine boards framework and 1/4 in birch on the interior).
Also looking for:
Trim piece supplier for the aluminum sheets
15 x 18 awning type windows (2 of them)
Hatch and door handle suppliers
Could use your imput here, Thanks in advance!

I have continued to search for 5 foot aluminum. The best I can come up with to date, is .040 x 5 x 10 painted white. I have seen the thread has had 38 views...and no replies. It is quite a learning curve going on here.
Anyone have a supplier for 040 anodized aluminum 5 feet wide in the southeast?
The camper has a 5 foot wide by 9 foot 1 inch long roof section starting from the front to the hatch hinge area.
The sides walls are 53 inches high (unfortunately NOT 48") by 96 inches long....so obviously 5 footers would be ideal there as well.
May have to use the white 5 foot but..... still hoping for silver.
Any Suggestions?
While I am here, any thoughts on using VAB tape to secure the sections to the plywood?
Experience, price, suppliers and general knowledge for this product would be appreciated as well!

I'm in Sarasota and have an NT 5' trailer also. I'm looking for a place to build my TD that doesn't cost an arm and leg.
T&C Metals in Tampa (Just found them last week, I'm still sourcing) 5'x10'x.050 for $86.52. (813)626-7784. 4'x10'x.040 for $55.35.
Best prices I've found. How's the build going?

These guys sell 5X12 5052. 5 sheets are cheaper than 4 due to a price break at 100# if you want 4 sheets maybe we could have one sheet shipped to LA and four shipped to your location. Just a thought. I also have a business to order via so that might make a difference. Their service is very good.

Just called that link, the thinnest 5x12 sheet is .063, too thick for me.
The 4x10x040 (6 Sheets) is 3.10 a lb. or $477
The same order at T&C is $332.
You may be getting better prices going through your company, what was the price they quoted for 5 5x12?

Coming pretty slow lately.
Have to finish putting in WFCO elec box.
Then need to decide on outside finish.
I did not think this would be so hard (finding aluminum sheet 5 feet wide) and I may have designed it differently had I known this at the start.
I need to order hardware, hinges, handles, door windows etc very soon as well.

Only a year late but maybe someone will need a supplier. Aluminum Supply Inc. in Orlando. I decided not to use aluminum so didn't need them.

saf.com/aluminum=Sheet=0.040 sells aluminum sheet and delivers nationally. The above link is to .40 aluminum sheets as large as 60' x 120". They have several other thicknesses available. The larger the order the lower the price per square foot or per sheet.
I have not used them. I fiberglassed. As a rule of thumb aluminum is ten times heavier than fiberglass. And it comes in limited sizes. So anyone wanting to build wider than 5" has very limited choices of aluminum.
