hurricane hinge sliding sideways

Postby Arne » Thu Sep 29, 2005 3:39 am

I tried a search but could not find out how to keep the hatch from sliding from side to side on the hurricane hinge when it is open. It got off center last night and I heard a crack when I tried to lower it off center.

I think this was covered a while back. Can some one tell me how to keep it located where it should be with some simple fix?

I used gas struts to keep mine centered.

A water diverter might also keep it centered if you don't lift your hatch too high. I don't have time to find a photo right now, but if no one posts a photo here by this afternoon when I get home, I'll find one for you...

Put a sheet metal screw in the end to act as a stop. Put it in the end that the hatch always moves to. Or you could put one in each end.

Have a good day.
