Inside/Out cooking facilities

Sorry if this has been asked and answered already but has anyone done a galley where the cooking facilities can be accessed and operated from inside the teardrop as well as outside?

I'm picturing a set up where a small propane stove would slide out from its "travelling location" beneath a cupboard into the galley but also have the ability to slide in the other direction and into the sleeping quarters (for those rainy days when it hardly seems worth getting soaked just to boil a kettle). I know I could just get an electric kettle but I'd rather not be boiling my water in a plastic container or using the limited hydro to boil water.

I'd be very careful using an open flame in that small a space. You could end up unconcious in a hurry.

The closest I have seen to what you are describing is a pass through panel that will allow you to reach through to the coffeepot or similar in the galley.

there was a trailer built some time g where the kitchen came out the side of the trailernot sure who's it was but it was an interesting setup

Thanks for the responses, I wouldn't even consider doing such a thing without proper venting and 99% of the time it would be used externally, was just curious if someone had tried it and how they'd gotten on.

Most teardrops( 4x8) will fit completely under a 10 x 10 easy up with enuf room to keep dry while cookin ! Ventilation or NO ventilation.. I'd NEVER cook or have open flame IN my teardrop .. EVER !

Maybe out fit the galley area as an island configuration with no wall/backsplash so it can be accessed from inside or out.
additionally, maybe a small run of upper cabinets mounted to the ceiling instead of the wall.

I'm seriously considering something similar.

I do know some cabinet hardware manufacturers make a drawer slide that detents in the center, so it can be pulled out from the front or the back of the cabinet..... i think "accuride" is one mfr.

My teardrop will be bigger than 4x8 and I did consider the canopy but in rain and high winds I'd rather not have to go chasing it down the mountain.

the trailer i am building now has two cargo doors in the rear . with the canopy on top that should give good shelter from the wind/rain....but thats not a teardrop...but it will have lrg refridg and stove and bbq....i like food

Before I changed my latest build the plan was to build a trailer a little tailer than a teardrop but not full standing height. I was going to put the cooking area on a slide that pulled in and out the side and could be used inside and out.

Similar to the trailer in this video at the 3:41 mark. If you use your camper in all weather and it's raining, wind blowing, snowing, -20F outside and going home is not an option because it's 1500 miles away it would be pretty handy. If someone imported these or made a simliar one in the states I would buy one in a heartbeat at pretty much any cost.

Agreed, the UEV 490 is a jaw dropping trailer.

Although the 490's cooking equipment can't be accessed from inside, right?
I have metric specs on that model and plan on a similar build in the future.

I don't think you can use it inside, but I was going to borrow the idea of the sliding deal and make the stove usable both inside and out.

I built a limited galley set up in a trailer I did a while ago. By limited I mean only a 1 burner stove and a sliding table.

I only used it in cold weather and only while I was watching it and vented. Only for Morning Coffee too.

The stove was on a double drawer glide in that it rolled out the back of the Tear and into the cabin as well. I had a table that did the same.

Forgive me for the bump, I had the same question, just used the wrong terminology.

I was thinking of having the back splash open up with sliding doors or simply remove it from the inside. A tambor (roll top) opening could also be made.

The stove could be mounted on the counter. An additional counter/table top could attach inside or out for additional work space. Like an "L" return.

I suppose it could also work on slides, but a portable stove is not that hard to move around on a campsite.

As to venting, a rear hatch could be opened slightly. Roof vents can also be used.

I'm not concerned with having a controlled flame inside a cabin, you can move the bed back or roll up part of it and sit on it so that no flamable materials are nearby. I had to cook in an Army pup-tent, so I'd have more room inside a cabin than I had in the tent. You also have a fire extingusher inside and I certaily wouldn't walk off and leave a flame going anyway.

The reasons I'd cook inside; to cold, too hot (with A/C), wind gusts with flying debris, storms (not just a light rain, but 40 mph gusts driving rain, possibly hail), to late at night if in a camp ground, I'd be quieter and the neighbors may not think I'm just trying to be some perv out there.

If I can figure out how I'd rig mine as a pop-up with at least some standing headroom, I'd prepare more meals inside anyway, I really hate bees, flies and knats as I get older.

But my initial thought was just as mentioned above, fixing something simple when it was not so desirable outside. That was a real plus as a kid in out tent trailer.

So, are there any examples of TTTs with indoor cooking arrangements, say for a 5x8 or 5x10?

You could use a one burner electric smooth top which would do away with the gas fumes if you camp mostly where electric is available. A little pricy but not really more than most camping / boating stuff.
