Where to put nailers Near Door Opening

Postby John6012 » Tue Oct 04, 2005 9:50 am

I'm building and can't figure out where to put the nailers around the doors.
Butt them right against the door opening I think - is this right? Go all around the opening? I believe this is right otherwise foam board will show. Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanx

I would recommend at least 1 and 1/2 inch of framing all the way around the door and use a hardwood on the hinge side to give more bite for the screws. If your door has and radius(es), just let the wood stick out into the opening and then trim it later when everything is secured (glue and/or screws, etc.)
