Questions About Where To Start

I currently have in my possession a 10 x 6 trailer (old pop up camper frame). Wheel wells are under the frame there is 4 feet between wheel wells.

Is it possible to use this frame and would it be worth it? Looking for any input at all. Any help would be appreciated. I am very interested in constructing a teardrop and this seemed like the forum to get the most well informed information.

Thanks,

Shawn

...Shawn, welcome to our (mostly) happy band of (sometimes obsessed) builders. Several members have used those frames. I suggest you take the time to look over the hall of fame and members albums, read a lot of past and present threads and think about exactly what you want...this will make it easier for us to answer your inevitable questions. And remember the only charge is pictures...we luv da pics :D

Sure Shawn, it is possible to use the frame that you have. You have to decide on what you want to build and then decide if the frame will work for you. How big, where you are going, how many people, what you are towing it with, galley/no galley, Cadillac options or Pinto............ you have alot more now than most here start with. Maybe you can modify the frame you have to what you need.

Anyway, welcome to the madness (oops, I mean the forum)!! Do what you want and it will be what you want.

Oh, and take pictures......... we likem'!

SB, if your talkin' all new materials then a basic will cost 2grand+ for real usability. You can get by cheaper by scounging and by building nothing but a frame and shell...as always for such questions...YMMV

Take a look at powderburn's post about "Rock Ready Bumper" in this section. His trailer is built for stout! I don't know what kind of hunting you do but it is a good start for and idea on how you want to go.
