Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Does anyone have any experience with this product? As a finish for the roof? As a finish for the whole teardrop? Did you apply anything underneath of it first?

It looks like the way to go!!! If I build another tear I would use it on the hole tear now that you can get it in different colors. The things I really like is that it will be one complete membrane and the 50 year warranty.

Apparently it is 100% silicon. So it would probably have the exact same texture as silicon caulking.

So far, after exploring aluminum coating, CPES followed by different types of marine paint, roll on bedliner, spray on bedliner, spar urethane, rustoleoum hammered finish, different Rot Doctor finishes, I think GacoRoof is so far my favorite option for finish coat.

I may just have to try this on my quick budget build. I have been looking at all the different options, and I really like this idea.

If this Gacoroof finish was applied, would CPES be recommended as a basecoat? Or could I get away with just primer?

I plan on using CPES, but I'm no expert.

I normally dont do this but this subject is an exception because I dont want people to make non reversible mistake.

If anyone is interested in Gaco Roof for their teardrop please know what you are getting into first. I sell Gaco Roof and have alot of experience with it. I used it under my trailer in place of the black goo.

I have sold it for several years on all kinds of roofing projects. Having said that let me just throw out some things to think about.

Gaco is 100% silicone and will contaminate your tear with silicone wherever it is touched. Other coatings will bead on it like water on a ducks back.
Once you go Gaco you are committed forever. No going back, no getting it off, ever.

Gaco cannot be coated with any other coating - ever. Forever is a long time if its your only build. Its forever. There are colors that can be added but they are limited and permanent. You will never ever be able to change the color.

If you thought the first application was a nightmare just wait till you try to recoat with a different color. First you will be angry, then you will be sad, then you will chop up your teardrop with an axe. Just sayin.

Gaco is designed to do a job and not designed to look nice. The white pearl finish will soon get dirty and stained and not look nice. Dirt and dust stick to it like crazy.

Gaco is not easy to apply. Gaco is not easy to apply on vertical surfaces. Gaco is not easy to apply, it is thick like super sticky glue and cannot be thinned or altered. It runs like mad and can be a disaster it not tested first with your skills involved. Did I mention that Gaco can be the worst challenge of your build. BE CAREFUL.

If anyone has more spicific questions please ask BEFORE you try to apply Gaco to your tear.

Gaco is expensive and will repel water for the rest of your life but know it well before you use it on your tear. It may well destroy the look you were hoping for.
