Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

So I am trying to get ideas on how to incorporate a sink into my teardrop. I am planning to purchase the countertop this week and need some ideas. Please post an image of your sink and how its set up. Looking forward to seeing them!!!

I cant show pictures of the tank as it is a 16 gal between the frame rails. The sink has a pull out sprayer faucet.

Mine is probably the simplest set up shown so far; but, sometimes, “simple” makes the brain’s “lights” come on:



The water tank is 12 gallons. The clear tube is for air; the white, is for water intake; the clear, reinforced tube is the actual water line.



Water line runs from the bench to the sink cabinet under the bed’s foot support board.

PS. If I were building a teardrop, I would probably put in a sink and drain system; but, not a water tank. A lot of times, I simply use several large, recycled Ocean Spray cranberry juice bottles...the ones with the built-in white handle. The water canisters that they sell at Walmart, with the tap built into the cap, would work well. They sell large blue ones in the camping area; and, the smaller, easier to carry and handle clear ones (which allow you to see how much water you have on hand) can be found over near the refrigerated juices.

A plastic dishpan and a 5 gal blue jug is it for me.....

So I am looking at using a Moen 15" x 15" sink with a single European style faucet, soap dispenser, Flojet pump and a 10 gallon tank.
I am also planning to put the adapters through the wall for inlet and drains as well.
Below is a cell pick of the countertop I just bought from Lowes. It will need to be trimmed down a couple inches to fit but I think it will work well.

Mines quite small but I wanted more counterspace. Its a stainless steel Dog Bowl! Roughly a foot wide

Fitted with microswitched tap/12v submersible pump and plastic waste.



Only use a small collapsible 5litre water tank as we will be on sites most of the time. The waste pipe goes below the TD to go into a bucket or waste bottle

After reading a lot of threads on the subject, and drawing on our memories of living for years with little boat sinks that you could barely wash a coffee cup in, we also decided to go the dishpan and hose or water jug route. We're not wiring our trailer, except for the Caseydog Super Simple outlet set up, so an electric water pump is out of the question, and you can dump water out of a jug, or even better yet run it out of a hose, much faster than you can get it with a manual handpump (which you will rebuild with regularity). A couple of dishpans on a picnic table gives you a lot more room to work also, and keeps your galley counter space free.

I am certainly not saying anything negative in regards to those builders who have done wonderful jobs with plumbing and wiring their trailers, and I admire those well thought out "complete" galleys. (I also recognize that a lot of those galleys are in trailers wider than mine (4-1/2') and so they had more room to work with.) I'm just explaining why we chose to go the route we did.

I can see your point... Even though small I would rather have a small sink over nothing. Right now we tent camp with no hook ups. Usually out in the woods somewhere away from people. I did find a sink that was a little bigger at 17" x 19"... That would allow me a bit more sink space but reduce counter space a little. I am also planning a two burner propane stove to go in a draw under the counter. This is what makes building a tear so great. It is completely customized to to our own personal tastes, wants, and needs.

I love how everyone has a different take. The dog dish is an intriguing idea. Some of those are pretty large. :-)

Any recommendations on where to get a 10-15 gallon tank and what it should be made from? Currently I drink RO water exclusively and will use that to fill the tank. So a tank that doesn't leach toxins into the water is important to me....


EDIT: So I have found some internet site that carry a plethora of bar sinks but the drains are 3.5". Would that be really difficult to adapt to RV specs?

You can find inexpensive water tanks of every dimension from very small (5 gallons) on up on eBay and they already have all the hose connection nipples on them. Just do a search for rv water tanks.

I was hoping for a recommendation based on personal experience. Sure I can find 1000's researching them...

The only personal recommendation I can give is for Ronco Plastics. They sell marine and rv tanks, and we have used them on boats and their tanks are awesome, well made, thick walled, very nice.....the kicker is though that they are very pricey.

+1 becky. We use the same set up and it works for us. We have our water in a water drawer, however we now have a hot water set up via a weed sprayer i use for my showers that i have dual purposed as my dish water sink too. Dishpan holder is my repurposed pvc garbage bag holder than now also holds a dishpan. Can't wait to try it out at the Dam!
