Has anyone had success with salvaging windows out of an old camper to use in your build?
I have a line on an old Cabover Camper that I may be picking up tomorrow night.
My main purpose would be to pull out a few windows, but of course I would salvage anything I could.
Thoughts?

I"m currently using 5 windows from an old trailer in my new build. What you will find is that there are going to be some parts available and some not. There were many different window manufacturers and some of the more obscure ones will be tough to find the slip in rubber/ plastic parts. Hehr is a good one to get as crank mechanisms are still available as are a lot of other parts. Vintage trailer has some parts available for many different manufacturers. No one had my plastic retainers for the glass so I "faked" it with some caulking that I worked.

Older windows in decent condition bring good money on the internet as any RV type window tends to be expensive. As with reusing any older item...condition is everything. Older plastic parts on some windows may be weakened by UV, rubber will check, cranks strip. Once you start putting in a bunch of money into an older window, you may find yourself asking "why did I do this". If you started with a decent part, it's worth it. Doug

PS...strip whatever you think you can use. go for the exterior door handle, entire doors, stove, latches, lights etc...
