Any tips on where to position the galley hatch hinge point? Seems like you want a bit of slope for drainage, but not so low that the hatch opening radius gets too large...

I made my hatch first - 45" along the outside radius so that 1 sheet of 4 ft wide aluminum would cover it. The hinge point was where the top of the hatch cover happened to end up.

Huh. Reasonable logic, but using my rudimentary math skills, and knowing that I have a four foot high wall with a 3 foot hatch radius, the base of the wall to the end of the radius is 5.71 feet. So a few inches back from that is still well over 45"...

OK, so I built the hatch first, fit it on the camper and fit the hinge to the hatch. The 45” reference was just me showing off about how frugal I was with my materials. No actual math was used in the construction of my teardrop… hell, I barely had a plan!
I’d say just stand back and to see what looks right. It’s like a roof vent in that no matter where you put it, it will need to be sealed properly. And let the hinge overhang the sides a little to drop the water away from the hatch.

Well, with the "ducktail" rear end I can certainly see how you managed such as short hatch. Which is nice. Thanks for the replies.
