I'm looking to build a real basic teardrop trailer I plan on using for marketing my business hosting barbecues and picnics kinda like a really cool tailgating trailer. I have a 31 foot travel trailer and don't plan on using the teardrop for camping. Does anyone have any real basic plans for a teardrop and thoughts on finishing the exterior ?

Welcome to the forum. You might give us a little more info on how you want to use that trailer. Are you cooking in it, selling BBQ, or just advertising. You may get more response with some additional info.

Sorry for being so vague. I'm looking to cook out of the back, mostly barbecue but a small 2 burner stove would help. Advertising is a must, not selling anything out of it. I will be going around to offices hosting outdoor cookouts and tailgating of sorts.

How about a slightly more food oriented tiny trailer. The Wishbone wagon ( chuch wagon) was a spin that I developed to do Dutch Oven Seminars and cooking classes (if I ever can afford to retire completely). It still has a rear galley but the sleeping area became a series of large cabinets for storage and organization of the supplies needed.
Here is the build thread.... Scroll down a bit till ya see this !

Here are my thoughts. Bob Henrys trailer would do what you are looking for real well. If you want to have it look like a teardrop and you never need to sleep in it then this is what I would do. The teardrop shape just attracts people to it. They may not know what it is, but they will come to look. So the trailer becomes an extra hook to get them over to your BBQ. For the outside I would use small clapboard cedar siding. There are a few guys that have used corrugated roofing as the trailer roof. (Or aluminum or painted aluminum could be used). Very rustic looking, but sort of what you think of when you are talking BBQ. One side of the trailer has a regular door to get to storage inside. The side you want to work off of would have a drop down surface to be used as a table, for display or service. Make the outside of this drop down look like a window with advertising under plexi glass. The galley gets made to suit you. Is there a smoker in it? Or are you just heating precooked BBQ. There are all sort of pullout possibilities since you do not have to sleep in it. You could make a pullout come out the side behind the wheel with cooking/ warming stuff built it. You have not given us a budget but a full vinyl wrap could also be done over a basic flat sealed exterior. A flag pole could work as a sign and attract people from a distance if you are set up at a fair grounds. A couple smoke stacks would be fun. This could be a real fun build.

I have a Freedom Grill that has a cool swing arm. The swing arm goes into a 2" receiver on the back of the td.
http://www.freedomgrill.com/photos.htmlI also have a Freedom canopy that can be used on either side of the td. Again I used smaller receivers on both sides of the td for the canopy.

You could work off of the generic benroy plans. One of the side doors could open to reveal a refrigerator -freezer, the other side could be storage or open to reveal a hidden surprise like a big tv for tailgating.
I would be hesitant to run a big grill out of the back unless the hatch was made of a non flammable material. It might be better to store the grill inside on collapsible wheels like a gurney Forman ambulance, and put the big tv in the back.

OK, I like the rear TV and the side gurney Barbecue idea. I really don't have a budget as long as its the way I want it. Its for a home inspection company and looking to market to real estate offices. I can use the TV to show my commercials and power points. Loving this so far... I am looking to go with all white on the outside with blue accents and my logos/decals all over it. I don't need water but would definitely help. Where do I get the plans for the basic teardrop everyone speaks of such as the Bob Henry trailer ?

Another idea, Instead of side doors that open sideways, make them bigger and have them fold down. Easier for loading/unloading, and if you install a prop rod, then can be tables for serving stuff. or they could expose cubbies with utensils, napkins, a cooler with cold drinks.....

Why not have the doors open up so they can be tables when properly supported ???

Change of plans. I can build a 4x5 trailer and that should be fine with a door on each side. One with a cooler and one with a barbecue that can pull out. I can put a 2 burner stove, small sink, stereo and speakers out back and a small generator out front. One drawer at the rear for sttorage (cooking tools). NOW I'M PSYCHED !!!
