Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I stumbled on this video today. This seems to be an ideal finish for homebuilt trailers and at 50 bucks a gallon, pretty cheap at that. I looked at a number of additional videos on You Tube regarding this product and their doesn't seem to be a downside. There are also groups and forums for the product.

I could be wrong but there seems to be a few down sides. One, I see you are from California and you might not be able to buy it in gallons. Second it seems like it must be a removable product and I would be concerned with durability. It dosnt seem all that expensive so maybe what I see as problems are not that bad. Also it might be a good sealer on seams. If it is totally removable I would say go for it if the cost is no problem for you.

There is a video that addresses many of the questions that people have. It can be removed, but it will not just peel off. They show a guy hitting it, at 2 or 3 inches away, with an 1800 psi pressure washer and it has no effect. 50 bucks a gallon isn't expensive at all, especially when it's all you need. No epoxy, fiberglass, or other goop is needed. Just build it, fill all the imperfections and screw holes with bondo, sand everything nice and smooth and spray the stuff on. The whole body will be encapsulated in a layer of flexible plastic coating. I just don't see any negatives. I haven't started a build yet, so I have time to do more research, but I see myself using it when the time comes.
I can get anything I want. I just have it shipped to my brother in Nevada and he forwards it to me. I know if I use it, here in CA, several unicorns will die, but I don't care...........plus, they taste like chicken

I've actually considered it for my truck. It's a 95 Dodge and it has the usual Dodge "leprosy" where the paint is peeling off in sheets. It would be a quick and dirty fix and might look real sinister in matte black.

I guess....I think this is just a little too much like spinners and the "thumpin" stereos...

While it seems to be a quick fix for a street vehicle, I think it does have potential. The only thing I can see being a factor is the approximately three year capacity for the dip. The question is three years enough for tiny trailer builders?

Hmmmmm, I'll have to research the longevity of the product. I sort of assumed it would hold up real well, but maybe it's not the answer after all.

I use plasti-dip to coat the basket-weave-like pattern on the front of my tongue boxes. I live in Texas. the box is on my proto-typo (proof of concept) coroplast camper. It have been exposed to the sun and elements continuously. The tarp that I had over it got sun-whipped and wind torn, so I removed the tarp. Besides that i really was interested in how the coroplast would hold up under Texas sun.

One thing I noticed is that you have to put it on in layers. Put one layer on and before it cures add another. If you put thick layers on at one time, it will crack later.

Take pics and upload them. It is supposed to rain today, so it might be a few days.

I would like to see how it has held up. I still think it has a place in trailer building. Even if you were going to skin it with aluminum or Filon, it would make a great undercoat to ward off any future water intrusion.
