Moving forward

Well I've been resurrected once again and am motivated. I've just about have the garage passable again and am getting organized to move fwd on several fronts (that's my story and I'm sticking to it).

I still have the master bath torn out to studs. I have the plan though. Hire some help.

I have some serious gardening to do but I have a plan. Hire some help.

I have the kitchen to remodel. I have a plan: Have cabinets and granite fabricated and installed. Texture and paint myself. Pretty easy as it's mostly writing checks for Suzy's money.

#1 son is buying a house. It needs some updating. My plan: Be the coach and perhaps buy some materials with Suzy's money.

Now the fun stuff. I've cleared off my trailer frame and have lofted up the profile and all of the critical dimensions. I've worked out all the details as to how I'm gonna fabricate everything and have purchased most of the materials.

Here's a view of my Traverse and trailer: 106506

Here's a close up of the trailer. I don't plan on having any cabinets inside, just some simple shelves for stuff. The shelves are marked off with masking tape on the front of the cabin. I love Rubbermaid bins for storing food, pots and pans, utensils, and other stuff. The bins are weatherproof so they can be left outside, they're easy to move around, and you can dump more stuff in a bin than you can stuff in a cupboard. I plan on having a storage compartment between the cabin and galley and the door for it is also marked off with masking tape. You can also see the counter in the galley marked off: Image

When we had the boat we loved having a real oven. We made pizza, baked apples, and all manner of stuff. So I bought a small RV range/oven and plan on installing it in the galley. Just like home. 106509

Ice is a major PITA. I don't like chasing down and paying for ice. Sooooo, I've picked up a "lifetime supply" of ac/dc powered refrigerated chests. I've gotten several used ones off of Craigslist for the price of one new one. Redundancy/spares. Yeah, I'm a bit of a nut for spares but I'm "cost effective" about it. The chest will be on slides and it will slide under the counter in the galley. With a good deep cycle battery and some solar panels I should be able to keep it going w/o any "shore power". No ice required. In fact, it will make ice but doing so is hard on canned drinks, fruits, cheeses, and vegetables. Here's a picture one of my acquisitions: 106508

For showers I modified a pressure cooker so you can fill it with water, heat it up, pressurize it, and have 4 gallons of water for a nice "Navy" shower. When we had the boat we each got a shower each night. I've discovered my chances of "getting lucky" are considerably improved when I smell nice. You can really have a good shower with 2 gallons of water! 4 gallons is positively decadent. Here's a picture of my water heater: 60878

The trailer has lots of room ahead of the cabin for carrying my Archilles inflatable boat and outboard or other stuff. The rear bumper drops down out of the way so you don't bang your shins on it when using the galley and it also pulls out so you can carry a small motorcycle, bicycle, or other stuff back there.

So, I'm moving forward and looking fwd to going on road trips.

More to follow.

Cheers,

Gus

Sounds good Gus. With all the time you have freed up by writing checks , you should have time to get your build done. Good luck and have fun!

I've always had lots of time! It's the energy to overcome "THE PAIN" that I lack most of the time, ha.

Have opiates (and Suzy's money) will build is my new creedo!

Onwards! To infinity and beyond.

Cheers,

Gus
