Need plans for trailer frame...... 5'x10'

Morning Everyone:

I need a set of plans that I can take to a welder or ?? and have them build a trailer frame that is 5'x10'. If someone has the plans for a Lil Diner that would be great. I'm looking to build with a seating/table inside.

I live in Houston and weather is never predictable.....

A basic 5x10 trailer can be built using the 5x8 plans here, and just adding 2 feet to the length. http://www.mikenchell.com/weekender/chassis.html

You'll need to calculate the new location of your axle though. Andrew has some spreadsheets that'll help you here: http://www.angib.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/t ... tear81.htm

The last thing you have to decide on is the profile. If you want it Lil Diner'ish, then realize too, that you don't want a 5x10 trailer. You only need 5x8.

Let me look later and see if I have any cad data here for the Lil Diner.

The second trailer frame down from the top on your website looks like what I'm after. Do you have the drawing for that one? Also I see on the Lil Diner there is an area in the frame for your feet.

I'm going to add a section to the front of the trailer like the Camp-Inn does. This will be large enough to place a "small" suit case into like you use on an airplane for the over head storage.

Thank you for taking the time to Post. Us newbees really appreciate the advise from guys that have put so much time into their projects. I can see from your website you have a great deal of experience doing teardrops.

If you take this to your welder, he can do you up a nice 5x8 trailer. If you want to change the size, just tell the welder to space the center beams equally over the entire length.

This would probably be a good time to mention that if you want a dropped floor in your trailer, you might want to consider other options. If you look at my dropped floor, I had to cut a 45* chamfer to clear the tongue rails...

BTW, This frame was originally designed for the weekender. When I converted it to use for the Lil Diner, I had to cut out the first cross member...

I was wondering about that. I could see how large your drop floor was sitting on your work bench and it looked bigger than 24"

Thanks........

Hey! That's my workbench!! :o :o
After working on Mike's 'Diner, I decided to make my 'Diner a bit different. I built a dropped floor box out of 12-ga steel. I designed the frame to have the tongue miss the drop, so, I didn't build the drop with angles. Saved a ton of work. Nice and waterproof too!

When I finished the dropped area, I built light foam/1/8" panels for the inside. Lighter than ply for the drop.
