Canvas skin, what to do at galley hatch?

I am mostly following the generic benroy plans. I was planning on an 1/8th inch ply and aluminum skin but, I just switched to 1/8th inch ply with tightbond II glued canvas skin.
I am not sure how the hatch seal is supposed to work with a canvas skin?
With the aluminum, I was going to use 2-inch angle at the hatch edges. Screw to top of hatch, overhang side walls of tear. I can still do that with the canvas, but that would be the only part with aluminum trim? Without the aluminum trim would only be the 1/8th ply and canvas over the walls and a resulting exposed seal (not to mention my ugly fit between hatch and sidewall. My hatch to sidewall fit needs some trim.
Any ideas? Post to link or pictures of solution?
