Can someone steer me to a source for teardrop windows? They don't have much on Ebay for them. Also, which is the best Fantastic Fan and a source with a good price?

http://teardroptrailerparts.com/Windows___Doors.html Vintage Technologies by Frank Bear has windows, doors and much more. Frank can customize window and door trim rings to fit your doors or walls thickness, too.

http://www.lilbear.teardrops.net/index.html Lil' Bear by Grant Whipp has windows and much more.
These two are probably the premier teardrop specific parts suppliers.

For a Fantastic Fan http://www.rvvent.com/ Adohen Supply is top notch because they will customize one for you, which few others can or will do, at a fair price. After you order they most likely will call you to confirm your order and customization choices...which gives you a further opportunity to choose a Fantastic Fan that works best for your needs & budget. They're helpful and knowledgeable on the phone.

http://www.rvvent.com/5000rbt.htm The 5000rbt with a thermostat and a fan reverse switch is a good choice.
If you encounter rain a lot you might upgrade to http://www.rvvent.com/6000rbta.htm the 6000rbta which adds a rain sensor that closes the dome when it rains.
They sell every Fantastic Fan model. Some for le$$, some for more.
Their "No Choice" Fantastic Fans sell for a bit less than customized ones.

Here are the fields for your choices from their cart:
Item Number: 5000rbt (for example)
Item Name: Fantastic Vent 5000rbt
Dome Color : white, smoked, or clear
Dome Style : standard (taller and more curvy) or flat
Interior Color : white, off-white, or gray
Roof to Ceiling Thickness
Special Applications :
Type of Base? : High or Low profile
Actual Thickness: you tell them how thick your roof is and they will cut the interior trim so its right height for you
(A low profile base with a flat dome will stick up the least above the roof)

They will special order a double insulated dome if you want.

I am not sure if the new "pop n lock" easily removable screen is included on all new orders, or not. It may be. It might be good to ask when they call. Wish it was clearer on their website. Maybe if you order from them, when they call you, you could suggest they make it explicit on their website if the new "pop n lock" screens are included with their Fantastic Fans, at no extra cost?

This is all great info here! I have personally talked with the Fantastic Fan manufacturer and http://rvvent.com is the only place to get customized fan vent. Their prices with customization and shipping are almost always less or on par than the competition (and they don't offer custimization).

Also check out http://www.auctiva.com/stores/viewstore2.aspx?id=1640272&styleid=12. They sell dozens of RV windows through their store front on ebay. Make sure the trim ring fits the thickness of your wall before you order, you can usually get away with 1/8" thinner or thicker. I bought my skylight from them and I couldn't be happier.

Good luck,
Ryan

I bought my windows, fantastic fan, hurricane hinge, and different seals from Grant.
He knows more about teardrops that most other companies.
He was patient with me and asked me a lot of questions to make sure I got exactly what I needed. He thought of many things I would never have thought to ask.
Never had the chance to meet him personally but I sure hope to at the next Pamplin Grove.

Since my above post helped I've dug up a few more:

KMTParts.com http://kmtparts.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=window&x=11&y=4 sells a 24" wide x 12" tall slider window.
They also sell customized teardrop trailer doors in different sizes and colors. The website does not list the prices for their doors. If they might interest you their phone number is 315-697-2441. Their website has the doors and window(s) under the "Trailer Body Parts" category

I bought windows and fenders from them (KMTParts). Was pleased with both. Found them by searching for 10.75" wide fenders which at the time were hard to find.

Getting a little afield from your original question if you might want aluminum fenders Frank Bear http://teardroptrailerparts.com/Teardrop_Accessories.html has them in one size. 10.75" w x 33" long (front to back) x 16.5" tall

Recstuff.com http://recstuff.com/singleaxletrailerfenders.aspx has a good choice of steel and aluminum fenders.

:) It's kind of fun to share sources of teardrop parts from my scores of saved "favorites" collected over the years.

This is HUGE, up until now only Frank Bear at Vintage Technologies had manufactured doors for sale! These are aluminum and a different style, it looks like they install from the outside and don't have trim rings. I dug deeper and found the prices, a bit more than Frank's if you want a window.

up to 45x26 NO WINDOW +$252.00
up to 45x26 With WNDOW 15x24 vertical slide with screen +$357.00

Glad the KMT teardrop trailer doors fit your need/interest so well. I added links to them on a whim. Your research on their prices and sizes helps anyone who may read this. I wonder if they might be better thermally and sound insulated than Frank Bear's door(s) which are all glass and aluminum? They (KMT doors) might have more visual privacy, too...with less glass area.

GoLittleGuy.com http://www.golittleguy.com/teardrops/store/product/replacement-doors sells "replacement" teardrop trailer doors too for $295 + $110 for shipping and crating. Their two sizes are 26" wide by 32" tall or 26" wide by 36" tall.

I've seen some others selling teardrop trailer doors on EBAY from time to time. They seemed to be surplus ones.

:pictures: KMTParts.com K805 Teardrop Trailer Doors : http://kmtparts.com/k805-teardrop-trailer-doors.html

TEARDROP TRAILER DOORS

These are very high quality doors specifically designed for use in the smaller tear drop type trailers. They are available with or without windows. They are insulated and have 4 radius corners. They are 1 1/4" thick and surface mount.

They come in many colors. You provide the hole and we fill it with a nice door. Like plug and play type installation. The following 2 doors are pretty common. If you require a special size to make your trailer that something special, just call. 4-corner radius K805 series 32x26 and a 36x28. The window is a 15x24 vertical slide. Door has flush latch with key lock.

These are shipped in plywood boxes to protect them. As always, we will combine shipping for multiple quantities. Small doors will go UPS, larger ones will go truck freight. either way you must call for freight quote. 315-697-2441

TEARDROP TRAILER DOORS *

up to 45x26 NO WINDOW +$252.00
up to 45x26 With WINDOW 15x24 vertical slide with screen +$357.00
(bold added)

I missed reading, at first, that the doors are insulated. Good. From the photo it looks like they have a flush mount Trimark (style) door lock. Trimark locks have dead bolts. I also see that, as Ryan mentioned, the mounting trim ring would be screwed on from the outside. Above, it says the doors are 1 1/4" thick which can work well for insulated walls. The features of KMT's K805 doors seem like a good, though pricy, choice for a teardrop trailer door. They'd be a big construction time saver, probably an ooopsie saver too, with good features not available from other door suppliers.

(added) The ebay listing, below, tells what colors are available.

So, I wonder who has used them and can give us real life feedback?

I don't understand why I don't get email notifications when someone replies here. I have the box checked below for "Notify me when reply is posted"

Any way, Wow, thanks for all the suggestions. I have my doors cut out, but haven't started making the doors yet. I'm leaning towards just buying nice doors and save a ton of work, Do most of them work on 3/4" walls?

Depending on the shape you want, building your own doors is really not that difficult, and can save you $100 to $200 over the cost of pre-built. I've got the hinges, moldings, latches & handles, seals, and even the windows ... and I'd be happy to send you some guide drawings & photos that will help you along the way! Let me know if I can be of assistance - http://www.LilBear.teardrops.net - [email protected]

Good Luck, and as always ...

CHEERS!
