Weatherstrip info, please

My build will feature a salvaged door from a pickup cap/camper shell. It's hard to describe, but you'll see it in my upcoming build thread.

Anyhow, the door is framed on 3 sides with 1" x 1" aluminum angle, facing outward. This forms a flange/seal. The trailer wall into which this door will be set is painted plywood.

I need a source of peel 'n' stick weatherstripping, with a D-profile, that is fairly thin when compressed.

Thanks in advance,

eggsalad.

McMaster-Carr is an easy source.

my local Menards caries D-profile weatherstrip in a few widths and thicknesses. The stuff has wicked good adhesive too! I thought I would just peel it off my hatch when I needed to add more epoxy but I was not so lucky. Thinner didn't soften it neither did goof-off or caulk remover. I basically had to scrape it off with a sharp chisel then sand the remaining adhesive off.

Thanks, Grant! Can you tell me... the stuff you sell as "Door Seal"... it's about 3/8" high when uncompressed... but how much does it squish down to when compressed?

Appreciate it,

eggsalad

It compresses to almost nothing, about 1/16" or less ... it's a little "stiff" to begin with, but once it gets broken in it'll squeeze right down.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. As always ...
