I built the trailer for two 10 foot version. On the pdf file layout plot from 60" to 84" [from rear] the roof line is almost flat. When plotting the layout you could omit this section. You may have to allow for a narrower door depending on wheel and fender size.May i ask your reason for wanting 8 foot version?

Hey, rbdodge!

Getting the Trailer For Two profile down to 8' is pretty simple ... take the profile shot and crop it to just the body profile and scale it to equal some division of 4x10 (for instance, 2" x 5") and save that image ... then go back and re-scale it to 4x8 (2" x 4") (I don't know about anybody else's photo editing program, but on my Mac all I need to do is un-check the "Scale Proportionally" box and bang, it's done!) and save that image ... print it out, take it to a copy shop and have a transparency made, get an overhead projector, then project the image onto a 4'x8' piece of paper or directly onto your plywood (if you can get an oblique projector, you won't need the transparency) ... trace it out and voila! ... 8' Trailer For Two! Works for any profile (but, I'm not going to guarantee you'll necessarily like the results)!

With Thanks! (and apologies) to Andrew ... ;) ... (I "borrowed" the profile from his site)!

CHEERS!

Here's another way.

Take the existing Trailer for Two profile PDF.

Lay out the rear curve using a 2.5" horizontal grid, rather than the 3" grid shown. This will shorten the rear curve to an overall length of 50".

Lay out the front curve using the same 2.5" horizontal grid but ending with the front at 96". This will shorten the front curve to an overall length of 40".

This will leave a 6" length of flat top between the front and rear curves, instead of the original 12".

The result looks like this:

It's not as pretty as a 10ft Trailer for Two, but you can't shorten the shape and have it look the same.

Beware: because the Trailer for Two profile curves in at the front, a body that is 8ft long overall will only be about 92" at deck level. If you are trying to make a profile that will fit on an 8ft long trailer frame, you need to increase that 6" flat length between the two curves.
