What does your latch catch on? I was just using the aluminum door trim, but that is taking a beating.

John,

My handles came with a nylon catch for the latch.

I bought them at Vintage Technologies:

Good Luck

I used a mending plate from ACE Hardware for my dead bolt. It's plenty strong enough. I used a metal screen door catch for the other, lesser one.

PS. I used regular door stop wood for my door trim, cantilevering it out a little past the opening so I could get a good seal on the door.

Thanks for showing your door trim, Sharon. That's what I did on Penguino1, but I never had any weather on the two (one and a half) trips with it to test the seal. I'm planning the same on Penguino2.

Standard door knobs and striker plates.
Same as our front door except we reversed the procedure. Striker plate on the door. Knob on the body.
