Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hello,
I have a 2012 Little Guy five wide that had some serious interior water damage last year. Being newbie trailer owners we left the trailer outside all closed up during the rainy season - didn't take into account the huge amount of moisture that would build up inside the bottled up trailer - yuck! Well we have cleaned it as best as we can, but the smell, no matter what we use will not go away. We have tried nearly every product on the market, some homemade remedies etc etc - and shampooed the carpet on the wall etc. So, we are going to tear out the carpet but wonder -where do we get carpet re-installed? We don't really have a lot of RV repair places here in the city of Seattle. Would I take this to a place that does marine interiors? Any help or advice is greatly appreciated - thanks!!!

An automotive upholstery shop would be able to do the work, as well.

Installing "hull liner" shouldn't be that difficult. Have a look at jbyrd's build thread here. He makes it look pretty easy.

A number of people have used marine hull liner material from YourAutoTrim. I had good experience with the people from YourAutoTrim who were very helpful and did a quick shipment. The hull liner itself goes in real easy (but I glued it on the flat). You only need to make sure you use the right spray contact adhesive. This is how it looks as a headliner in my trailer.

I too used hull liner (that same shade of tan) on the interior of my teardrop. Great stuff, easy to install. And YourAutoTrim was great about shipping and so forth.

How thick, or how heavy is the hull liner? What adhesive?

Hull liner is light weight. It does not have a backing, so it's like indoor/outdoor carpet w/o the rubber backing. I used 3M #77 contact cement on the fabric and 3M #30 contact adhesive on the wall. I didn't want to spray inside the trailer so I used the water-based 3M Fastbond 30-NF brushed on.

I have a quantity left over from my trailer. PM me if you just need a couple of yards, I may be able to help you.

Thanks everyone for your replies, this helps A LOT!!! I am going to go with the hull liner mentioned I think. I called Little Guy and spoke to someone there who was helpful. Turns out they don't use regular carpet glue, they use Sta'-Put - which, thankfully means I wont have to scrape the glue from the walls - they told me I should be able to lay my covering on the wall ( spray wall and covering ) and it should be good to go. I hope... I don't to sound too cocky, as I have a feeling this all may be harder than initially thought. I will post updates, and thank you!

Are you sure you want to be spraying adhesive in the confines of a teardrop trailer? Really?

I went to great lengths to avoid doing such, choosing a low-VOC adhesive that won't be outgassing in my bedroom everytime the weather turns hot.

Not to mention the mess.
