Crank open window as moon roof?

Has anyone used a crank open window as a moon roof? I have a 14x48 Kinro window that I would like to use but I am unsure about mounting it horizontal because I know it was designed to be mounted vertically. Any ideas/suggestions?

How about using a sun roof ,from a car, as a moon roof. I guess it would need a small battery, but most trailers have them anyway.

I would not use a window that is designed for a wall for the roof. Do not think that seals will keep out the water.

you could do it, just put a trolley top on the tear and mount the windows in the sides of the trolley top, that way lying in bed you could look up through them, but they would still be vertical for seals to work.

MIght want to think about the amount of heat gain through a large window in the roof. I'm thinking of my moonroof on my car. I live in Wisconsin and only really uncover it in the winter because it makes the car so hot.

What about a second hand boat hatch.... Designed to fix flat on the deck, often available glazed and definitely designed to be watertight.

I know car moon roofs allow water in but channels it to pour out the bottom of the car through a small tube, could be done but probably more hassle than it's worth.
My sun roof is set flush with the rest of the roof, it doesn't open, but the seal will make a lip that will hold water on the glass. I might think about some sort of cover for it, for transit and when there's rain. You could apply a similar cover for your's.

After 15 years at a window factory. Buy or do a window that is designed for the application. That is a sky lite, sunroof, , moon roof or hatch for on the roof they are designed for it. The drain holes in a vertical window are at the bottom for a reason. Nothing is worse than going to go to sleep and finding out that your bedding is soaking wet from an earlier rain storm.
