Body filler, CPES and plywood

Postby matthewp » Tue May 20, 2014 4:48 pm

I apologize if this was clearly discussed already, but I did try considerable searching without a reasonably clear answer.

On my plywood body, should I: A) fill the holes, etc. with fiberglass body filler, then apply the CPES; or B) apply my layers of CPES then fill with the fiberglass body filler.

Of course, after this, I plan on sanding, priming and painting.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Surprisingly, I think I found my answer on this forum through a Google search.

It looks like I will sand the body to the shape I want (rounding all the edges, etc.) then add my layers of CPES (aiming for 3 to 4), then add my body filler in the holes and sand to final prep before painting.

That's how I did it. CPES penetrates the wood to prevent rot so it needs to go on first even in the places to be filled. Just make sure all your components are compatible with each other (filler, resin, primer, paint).
