Cool Fenders

Hi Folks!

I'm trying to convince the hubby to build a Cubby teardrop as a fun project for the both of us to do together. I believe I'm winning.

I've been searching sites for ideas on materials. The one thing I can't seem to find is a source for cool fenders. Something that looks like it came from a '37 truck but is a reproduction. Where could these be found?

Thanks for the links. I've added them to my folder of Teardrop Favorites. My husband and I do well building things together.

We do not hang wallpaper or shop together. This may be why we are approaching our 25th anniversary in spring!

Are you in the Dakotas? I got some nice fenders from a guy in Iowa. If you are in the Sioux City area, I think you might be fairly close to him (I had mine shipped, and don't remember what town he was in).

He doesn't have a web page, I found them on ebay, but they were much cheaper than the ones on the links. I think a few other people on this foprum also get fenders from him. I'll see if I can find an email address and what town he is in.

Mary, if your going to build a Cubby on a HF frame, you just might be hard pressed to find a '37 type chevy fender that's not to big for the wheel/tire combo and look good. I've got '37 Chevy fenders on mine, but my tear is 10 feet long and has 15" wheels & tires on it. Just something to think about.

build your teardrop with the best materials you can find!

I see what you mean about size. I did see some that should work on the other sites that were posted. Yup, I know what is meant about quality materials.

I like Chevy cars. Good quality cars. You can have Corvettes or Chevettes, all Chevys but my price zone is the Malibu.

Are you using the Kuffle Creek plans? If so, then the fenders that are shown in the plans can be had from Tractor Supply. If memory serves, they are between $9 and $13.00 each for steel. You will have to paint them then, but that's easy.

Yup, we are going with Kuffel Creek plans. I'm really impressed with them. Bought them by down load and printed them out myself.

I really like Kevin Hauser's writting style.

I'll be looking at the fenders you mentioned. I just don't care for the square look of the Harbor Freight ones. And I'm not exactly sure why but I hate the red paint. So I'll be repainting the tounge black and I think we are going to bring the skin down so that it covers the trailer frame.

Well, that's the plan so far. Right now I'm gathering sources and ideas and this site is wonderful!

My daughter and father-in-law helped build our Kuffle Creek 8' Cubby. Really liked Kevin's easy to follow plans. One consideration. We wanted a
5' wide Cubby because of the extra bed width. Our only bolt together choice was the "Red" trailer kit that Tom S. used.

After visiting with a local Tractor Supply Co., I discovered that the Carry-all trailers would build a 5X8 trailer without floor, tailgate or sides for $475.00 shipped.

The modification to the trailer floor to adapt to the Cubby plans was real simple. We are very glad with the frame and look.
