Galley help

I ended up cutting to much on the main walls for my galley,what can I do to make a seal and how do I build the door with this 3/4inch gap

Match both sides, hinge on top. Make your spars thicker at top and graduate to normal at the bottom. Anyone else??

Does that notch go all the way to the floor? If so (and if you will be covering the sides with aluminum or other skin material), then cut some strips of 1/8" luan that are the same width as the thickness of your walls ... glue & tack the strips to the top of the walls 'till you're at the correct depth of notch (1/4" if you are using one of my 0-offset Galley Lid HInges) ... sand true to the outside & inside walls ... add your outside skin ... (looks like you have laminate on the inside walls? ... you'll probably have to recover to hide the layers of luan.) ... cap the walls with the appropriate width Edge Molding ... and you've got it!

If that 3/4" notch does NOT go all the way to the floor (or threshold), then you'll need to "stair-step" the layers of luan and taper & fair it all with a belt sander or other abrasive method ... then do the skin/re-laminate/Edge-Molding thing.

If both sides have the same shapes any hatch designs flaws can be overcome. No one will ever question your shape if it looks symmetrical and not wonky. That could be one of those things, If you don't tell anyone they won't know. Overcoming these challenges will make it your own.

Here’s a fix to a problem that I caused myself. When I built my hatch, I used the side wall profile template as my guide, and the hatch turned out great… until I added the roof. When I put 7/8th inch of roof on my walls, I needed to raise the hatch up 7/8th inch at the top to meet flush with the roofline. That left me with a gap between the side walls and the hatch that tapered from 7/8th inch to nothing along a four foot curve. Sweet.

So, I layered 1/4th inch strips that I glued and stapled along the galley side walls. After the glue dried, I traced my new profile, pulled the staples that were in the way, and jigsawed out the waste. A little belt sander action and my walls fit my hatch now. I’m glad that’s done, now I can get back to finishing instead of fixing.
