Wiley Window Questions

I think I have read every thread on the forum about Wiley windows but I still have a few questions.

1. How much overlap are people using between the pane and the opening? (eg. If the window opening is 20 inches square and the pane 21 inches square, you have an overlap of 1/2 inch on all sides) What do you think should be the minimum?
2. What angle did you use for the supports when the window is open? (Or put another way, what distance did you choose to have the supports intrude into the interior?)
3. What is the thickness of the materials you used to build the frame? What do you consider to be the minimum?
4. I would like to route a recessed area on the inside of the window to allow for the installation of a window screen. That way the pane still sits flush against the siding and it also holds the screen against the siding. I can't think of any drawback to doing that. Can you?
5. If you have a Wiley window, what would you change about it in the next build? You are still not telling yourself that this is the last build are you ?

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I've read every thread relating to this style of window. I was hopeful that someone who had built one would chime in. But I'll take a stab at answering my own questions.

1. Looking at all the pictures of the ones built and guessing at measurements. I'm going to say a 1 inch overlap between the opening and pane looks to be sufficient. Some pictures show what I guess is 3/4 or 1/2 inch .

2. The only post that mentions any dimensions on how far they intrude is the excellent post by rowerwet. He used 6 inches from the outer skin to the top of the frame. His window appears to be 24" tall so the wedges must make a 15 degree angle.

3. Thickness is all over the map. rowerwet used what looks like 1/4 ply. Others have used wood that looks to be 1/2 thick. I think I'll end up using 1/2.

4. I missed that rowerwet had a screen in his the first time I read the post because it doesn't show up in the photos. He didn't recess his into the door so I can't really think of why I would need to. It would save a step in construction.

5. Of all the threads no one is reporting negative things. Other than the fact that it intrudes into the cabin space. So either they work or they don't work but no one wants to admit it. I'm guessing it is the former.

I'll build one and post pics. Someone has one with a built in curtain rod. I wish I could remember who. That is a clever idea.
