If you ever have a need for an extremely heavy load bearing drawer slid here it is....

Ball bearings were installed on the sides for the drawer system

use old skateboard bearings. They were not only cheap but also could support a lot of weight.

1x1 square tubing was used for the drawers to slide back and forth.

Very cool! :applause:

I've been wanting to build something like this for years. What size bolts did you use for the bearings? Did you have to use washers on either side of the bearings?

Thanks,
Take care, Tom

I didn't build this, I found in on the net...A friend of mine did something similar using steel angle instead of the square box......

It looks like he put washers on the back side of the bearings....

I did the same thing using skate board wheel bearings on my slide out air conditioner in my trailer....

Here are some pics I saved for ideas.

I built the metal framed one in pics 1&2 and used snap on UHMW slides from McMaster Carr for my runners. They work great and would last 2 lifetimes. I wish I added hatches on top, but guess I still could. Also if you put vertical dados in the sides of the boxes you can add baffles to keep stuff from moving around. I put drawer liner in mine to prevent the rolling, but it is not as good as a baffle.
