Hi all.
Has anyone had 'house' windows custom-made for them instead of using caravan windows? We have a PVC frame + double glaze window manufarturer here (as well as normal aluminium house window factories) and I was wondering if they could make something cool to my specs. Weight wouldn't really be an issue due to size, I wouldnt have thought. Opinions from the experts?

Some window manufacturers will custom build windows for you but they r going to be expensive I used to build houses and toured a factory because I was going to become a dealer for them and push their brand

No reason it can't work for a small trailer, but buying off the shelf is always cheaper. You might find some small windows already made (bathroom / shower window size) at a home supply store which will work and fit the bill. The "standard" sizes are always cheaper due to manufacturing, if you can find some.

Some people have occasionally come across dealer samples, like the ones you see on the desk or counter at the door and window section of the big box hardware stores. One concern is that you would much prefer to have tempered glass for the safety aspect, so look for the etching to confirm, or, for custom windows, specify (...and yes, it will also cost more).

Another option is to look at windows intended for use in sheds. They are built similarly to the ones described, and there are even the Jalouise louvered types that are popular for the vintage style.

I'm in Tasmania, Australia and in a city which is still pretty personal so I reckon I could find a tradie a bit keen to make me something cheap and plenty of people do 'cashies' from scrap..and we ARE talking little windows I also roamed on our Gumtree pages combing for ute canopies. These are cheap and I might be able to find a roughie which still has excellent windows. They are an interesting shape, fully tinted and, I understand, tempered. Win-win. My only concern there is that they may not fit an inch-thick wall but there's always more than one way to skin a cat, right team?

Many!

You can build up the thickness of the wall, on the inside, the outside, or both to get what you need.
Think trim, something shaped to match the radius, if any, that will be pleasing to the eye, and make the window look like it was designed to be there.

Hey There, The type of window I want is a rectangle shape hinged at the top so if it is raining it acts as a louver and the rain stays out There are ideas on the forum already for windows like this you can build yourself out of light gauge angle material.

I've always had issues with the lack of airflow when sleeping in a tent, the small interior space in a tear is worse due to the hard sides. Unless you get crank out windows you will end up with less than half of the window opening allowing airflow. Most people counteract this with a roof vent, but these have issues with leaks and can allow rain in when open.
While there are vents that allow full airflow when open, they are large and would interfere with putting a boat or roof rack on the tear.
I installed Wiley windows instead. They cost very little, each of mine came to $25, mostly for the square of plexiglass, and with the glass out, they give a full opening for airflow. I made them as large as would fit in the door, with no fans Or extra vents we have excellent airflow.
I bought used rv windows first, I hate them so much I would be tempted to give them away.

If you check out my signature link you'll see how I tow with them open, when camping I remove the glass completely for full airflow, towing they are tipped in to shed water and give airflow. If you tow in heavy dust towing with them shut would be best.
Fully open they give a nice breeze even with no breeze outside just from the warm air leaving and cooler air flowing in
