Hatch trim, same as roof molding?

I am thinking of using Top Edge Molding 7/8 x 3/8 aluminum trim on roof. My hatch will be1/8 plywood topped with. 040 aluminum. what would you trim edges with. Would you use rivets to attach?

No aluminum yet, about an inch from the edge is rib, so that is the thin area

If you are using the traditional style Regular Roof Edge Molding (the kind that leaves the screw-heads exposed), then you can use the same stuff on the galley lid edges and either rivet it on with bucked or squeezed aircraft rivets or use the two-piece barrel-bolts/sex-nuts.

If you use the RV-style Insert-type Roof Edge Molding, you can use Wide Lip RV Roof Edge Molding on the hatch edges and pop-rivet it on from underneath the overhang with broad-head rivets, and the squeezed-out part gets hidden by the vinyl insert. (If you are worried about the RV Roof Edge not looking traditional enough, you can get the silver insert and it won't stand out as much as if it were the typical black.)

Continued Good Luck, and as always ...

CHEERS!

I used the wide lip RV insert molding on my hatch installed as Grant said with pop rivets. Here's a picture of the under side. (I added a strip of the same aluminum as I to the bottom of the hatch overhang. That's why you see aluminum on the bottom.)

Here's a picture from the outside before the insert strip is installed.

I never did get a photo with the insert strip. I'll see if I can take a picture in a couple of days.
