Anodized aluminum supplier and leaf spring question

Postby ScottReb » Fri Mar 13, 2015 12:18 pm

Good morning all. Getting lined up to start my TD. Think I have all the details, except the 2 above. Doing a 5x9 Benroy'ish style off road. It will be very similar to Moby1 XTR.

1- anodized sheets Cant find anyone with 5x10 by .040. I heard SAF has them but only in .063. A little too thick for my liking. Just wondering if anyone has found another source. I have a great supplier in Sacramento, but they don't have anodized. I really like that look and durability.

2- going to use Old Man Emu springs. Any guidance as far as which ones peeps have used? I was thinking a Tacoma wt spring. I can always remove leaves to adjust.

Thanks so much this site has given me all the info to tackle this project

I had the same problem trying to find 5'-wide anodized aluminum. I went with mill finish and find it fine. I suspect it's the width of the tank they have to to it in.

I just got off the phone with SAF. Your right the thin stuff flexes too much to make it easy to dip. Next question is...has anyone used 063 for their roof?? I will have approx 12" radius on one end.

Check out http://www.dencosales.com/ they have 2 locations in your area of California.
I get .040 x 48" x 120" anodized aluminum from them and do lap seams on the roof facing away from rain while driving.
