Finnish Plywood and Various Uses - Good Information

Today we found some real nice quality Plywood for both flooring and walls. even though we had to drive farther away from home for it but it was well worth the drive.. and larger sheets available as well exceeding the 4 x 8 so were in luck..

Thought to share this info with you.. as it may give some good ideas and info...

It looks as if with this material that it would already be water and rot proof.
With this material, will you still use aluminum or some other covering?

This is what we,ll be using for the flooring...

Yes, Id like to use aluminum on the wall and roof for sure...but I,ll try to find real quality products to build with...

The wife now likes the idea of using just plywood on the sides that has been lacquered only instead of installing aluminum on it...except on the roof..She likes to see the Beautiful Birch Grain be shown. Hmmm :thinking:

This is a Joint Venture for sure.. :lol:

That's the standard product used in Britain for exposed decks on good quality trailers - very tough, very durable.

Man, that's some lovely ply that WISA sell. Did you see the maximum panel sizes? 1500x3600 for single sheets and 12500x2750 if scarph-jointed - those are 5 x 12 feet and 41 x 9 feet - that's what I call a serious piece of plywood!!

PS The metric measurements above are in engineer's units (mm) - remove one '0' to get dressmaker's units (cm). :twisted:

So Andrew: I guess we chose some great stuff to use...this morning I didnt see anything but 4 x 8 sheets of Plywood at a place named "Bauhaus" but then early afternoon we drove to this company WISA.
BAUHAUS - German to English translation - DOG HOUSE :QM ;)

were glad we did.. and there was availability in "All" kinds of sizes.. and if there wasnt - They can order it for us.. but not necessary for us to do that.. We are happy about the find.. And no seams necessary in the flooring or walls... :twisted:

Here in Finland as well this is used on majority of the trailers.. and this lasts for years..

Andrew: the gentlemen at WISA told me if I wanted to flip this flooring over so that the Film Surface is Downward and then its not necessary to "Coat" the underside of the floor with anything...leave as is and it will be excellent.. The sides of the ply is already treated with waterproofing and moisture resistant surface...

Measurements by the Cube - Was it Rubics Cube? :lol: :lol:

I think they have some pretty good salmon in Finland. too.

Classic Finn,

That looks like a plywood we use here in the US on boatdock decks. I have a piece on the floor of a piece of equipment which has been exposed to the elements for over 15 years that is as sound today as the day it was installed. Only problem is I think it's only availabel in 3/4" and it seems as heavy as lead!!!!!

By the way, how come you Finns build such interesting trailers? All the commercially built trailers I've seen from your part of the world are really good looking.

I think it very well could be the same stuff... never know...But its very
sturdy. Here it is available in thinner sizes.. but the length and width is
available in Different sizes..

Some of the trailers are nice here but lets see what I come up with as far
as our build.. Im keeping my fingers crossed.. Many things are not available here though ... or at least I havent found yet... Plywood is plenty
but the different fenders such as you have we dont have for sure...or the Radius Windows such as Camp Inn or Grant has available...

I was hunting around again for different things... such as mouldings..
I did get a sample of a few rubber profiles that I,ll check with you pro,s
as to the usage or purpose it can be for...

I,ll post the photos shortly..

Unfortunately, "what you see is what you get" as far as my construction. I had a financial setback and all I have is the frame. Maybe 2006 will "be my year".

Dont worry Chris, as you noticed thats all we have. Even it does take longer or slower to build. With time it,ll get done the way you want and then it,ll be quality as well...Besides isnt there an American saying that ..
goes somthing like : Good things come to those who wait?? ;)

Gee I dont know how to build these things fast compared to our professional colleagues.... but then they will have somthing worth waiting for.. such as the new pics... :lol:

Were just setting aside for few things per month ...on our teardrop..
Im hoping that 2006 will be our year as well...

Once its done we,ll have to figure out how to join in on a nice teardrop gathering... :? With ours with...
