Henry's 663 Where Spread?

In attaching aluminum with Henry's 663 did you just put it on the wooden spars and edges that are exposed, or do you spread it over the insulation also? I expect its just on the wood, but wanted confirmation

I did not put it on the insulation - I didn't think it would have helped that much. Although I did put it on the spars and exposed edges, I don't believe it will help much as the edge screws are the main attachment points

I don't know if I'll be of any help here...I used the same material, but spread it on a plywood substrate before applying the aluminum, it gave me a lot of surface to adhear to....just my opinion...but I think you might want a more agressive adhesieve if only applying to spars and edges....just my thoughts on it...Doug

I use polyurethene glue on the spars to hold the aluminum. Only used the Henry's on the side walls, doors and hatch. It will not be enough grip to hold on the roof without using a solid underlayment first. 1/8" luann plywood would work nicely, I think. The Henry's needs some surface area to work well and I don't think that the insulation would hold it very well. Just a little polyurethene glue on each spar and straps to hold the aluminum until it dries should be fine.
