So, I'm getting closer to fiberglass and epoxy time, but I have a few spots that need some love before I get there. One flub I made with the router has left a small gouge in the profile, and I wanted to fill it before I run the round over bit on it. My question, is what is a good woodfiller that is sold in brick and morter stores?

I saw some epoxy wood filler, but I would need to order it, (http://www.homedepot.com/p/PC-Products- ... 649620-_-N) what I am seeing though is the minwax high performance wood filler, appears to be locally available

Anyone use this? Am I being a dork since this is going under epoxy and FG anyways?

I would use Bondo. Slightly flexible, and I used it to fill staple and screw holes before covering my roof with Marine Vinyl.

I thought there was concern using bondo when you were using epoxy? Something about poly and epoxy not playing well. Or am I listening to the voices in my head again?

If using glass and epoxy, why not just use some thickened epoxy? No compatibility issues there.

I've never used it, as I'm on a different continent, but this stuff looks ideal - epoxy+microballon. Sorry, I see that is spelt micro-balloon in the US.

I'll throw my chit in KC's hat. I've got some epoxy thickner in the shop I bought from Raka. I don't recall what it is. But I don't think you need to get the credit card out.

Coat the to-be-fixed spots with epoxy, and then mix up a cup of thickened epoxy using flour. Some peeps use wood dust but flour works even better since it's finer. And it's dang close to wood. Apply with a putty knife. Or pull some wood dust from your sander bag. But flour is fine.

I ended up doing just elmers wood putty... figured this will be under the epoxy anyways. Filled the holes/flubs well enough, sculpted well in there, and sealed up just dandy. Thanks
