Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I have the top of my trailer painted with rustolium. There are small cracks that have appeared. It seems the cracks get moisture inside. No leaks but not good. The paint is too hard so I think an elastomeric coating would seal just fine.

Has anybody had a bad experience with elastomeric roof coating? Any suggestion about installing over paint?

Hi Tom , My ex had me paint her stucco house and I recommended elastomeric paint. My best advise to her was to talk to the owner of the local paint manufacturer/ store. Rocky is a great guy and the expert on all things paint. The workers at the Paint mart often don't have a clue so take their advise with the appropriate skepticism and do some homework.

Another option would be to glue on canvas and paint. Poor man's fiberglass.

My very first experiment in tiny trailers (Eggbert) was coated inside and out with "Polar seal" brand coating.

A decade later the abandoned carcass laying in the yard 24-7 looked as good as the day I painted the cheap OSB experimental body.

I have been entertaining a facelift for chubby. The 7+ years of setting outside 24-7 has taken it's toll on the sheathing.
I have a very large roll of material that is used to reface those freestanding cubical dividers. I am seriously considering placing it on
the deteriorated areas after a patch repair.

Both the 4x and 10 x appear to be some type of rubberized latex base. I was hoping to get a look at the MSDS sheet to see
what the active ingredients are but no luck.

Has anyone else given this new product a look or perhaps have some experience with it.

Foamie or standard build it might be the king when sealing the deck and underside for water proofing of a new tiny trailer build

I've been using the "kool seal" brand for years and it works great. I used it to cover the canvas underneath floor side of my trailer, since I had 5 gals of it laying around. I've used it on my black epdm roof over my house patio to make it white and it never peeled off. It has been 7 years now and need to put a new coat as the old one is looking kind of grungy. I've put it on the roofs of every rv I've had except this one as I already had a white epdm covering.

Was the paint you used on your roof oil based?

I would talk to a paint expert first, but if it was oil based you might consider a primer designed to go over the oil paint before using an acrylic based paint.

I just put Henry's Solar-flex on my cargo trailer roof. It is a water based product. It sticks well to both the bare metal and the seam sealant. I don't know how it will do on paint, but I would guess that it would work okay. But if the paint underneath starts to peel...... Sealing it off with the elastomeric coating might block any peeling before it starts though.

Kool Seal is an acrylic latex, which is why it works on epdm. It also seemed to work wonders using the canvas on my floor bottom.

I found some stuff called Duck Coat roof coating. It is not water based. The cost is excessive at $50 for .9 gallon. I was hoping to find out if the product was urethane like the caulk and glue I used but the tech guy wasn't very knowledgeable. It uses xylene as a solvent if that helps anyone.

the only problem i have ever seen with kool seal is that dirt sticks to it like a magnet.
doesn't effect it's ability to seal, but sure looks ugly.
