Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hey,
Newbie here. I am doing research on materials right now. I found this plywood at Menards. It is about 2 hours from me, but if it is good material, it would be about the same as buying the double sided sanded stuff at HD.

Is not really marine plywood. Glue is water resistant, not waterptoof. Fir is softwood which is not usually usrd for marine ply. No mention is made of what the interior plys are (should be hardwood) and whether or not they contain any voids.

A 4x8x3/4in. sheet of real marine plywood should cost $125 - $200 depending upon the type of hardwood used. Typical woods are Okoume or Meranti mahogony, but I think you can also get oak or maple.

The glue is phenolic not urea so it is exterior/marine glue. The fir isn't as nice as a tropical wood for final finish but it'll work for a camper. I would cosider this a low end marine plywood at a great price!

Turns out there sheets made with Douglas Fir and the prices are comparable to what Menards listed, so maybe what Menards is selling is indeed real marine ply.

If it's going to be covered with aluminum, my opinion is exterior grade is fine. I don't think it's a good idea to leave any camper sit outside in the elements forever. Even factory builts deteriorate fast. So build as you see fit, store it indoors. It'll be here for many years.
