KoolerAire -- Cooling teardrop with it?
Posted: Thu Jan 19, 2006 11:41 pmWhile looking for small air conditioners/swamp coolers, etc., I found a device called a "KoolerAire." You could use your ice chest for food in the daytime and for cooling the inside of your teardrop at night.
Basically it's a 100 cfm 12-volt fan blowing into a 25 quart ice chest through a tightly fitted lid. The air blows over the ice in the ice chest. A 1-1/2" diameter hole lets the air out, and if you want to direct the air somewhere, you can add a 1-1/2" PVC 90-degree elbow.
To cut down the humidity in the air coming from the cooler, the company suggests using frozen 2-liter soda bottles, frozen 1-gallon jugs, or leaving the ice in its original bags. The device cooled a boat cabin that was 7 x 7 x 5 feet.
The "KoolerAire" plugs into a cigarette lighter, draws 0.39 amps, and in a 79-degree room was releasing air at 48 degrees. The fan has a 44.5 DBA noise level. Price for this unit is $39.95. Look at it at <www.kooleraire.com>
