Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

The process of designing, and hopefully building a tt is just down-rite fun! This forum is just the greatest, thanks for putting it together and taking care it. You are all awesome!

My question is about condensation in the Teardrop. It seems that most of the projects mentioned on this and other sites are built so "air tight" that there has to be problems down the road.

What can I do to lessen condensation from turning my teardrop into a smelly mess?

I was thinking about carpet inside, but now have a major fear of doing so. It sure would make finishing the inside easier.

Welcome up there JD...yep, this can be one of the most fun projects around to take on...not only design and build but hen ya get to use it and get all those anyway, condesnsation is a problem in a small enclosed space such as these little trailers...the best ya can hope for is to insulate some and ventilate well...a roof vent and an open window help as does leaving the TD open during the day to "air" out..when storing if you can leave windows and vents open helps...some of our members use an electric dehumidifyer when not in use and one member(can't remember who...Arne maybe) use a larger version of the "dry" bags you find in some electronic packaging...by the way, have you learned to post pics, plans etc, yet...we hope ya do cause we really do luv to look at da pics...I mean we just luve 'em

They are called dessicant packs. You can find some here. http://www.rhinosafe.com/rustprevention.htm

Also use open bag of charcoal briquets, but you gotta dry em out in the summer. Kitty litter works too, just don't let the cat in.

Those goldenrods are worth their weight in gol...............oh well, you get the idea! They work great.

I also use a goldenrod and it works great.
My TD is also parked out side.

Golden rods are great and well worth the price. My last airplane was tied down outside and in the early spring here in Oregon you would swear the wind shield had holes in it from the condensation dripping off. 1 24" golden rod and it was dry as a bone! Sold the air plane but the golden rod is now on duty in my 5th wheel trailer.

Thanks for the info, I’m really happy to hear that the condensation is manageable. I’ll look into all the suggestions, but the Golden rods sound really perfect.

Bledsoe, I am from Oregon, and am still here, I promise to put some pictures, and plans into the discussion section soon. I do hope you don’t care that my teardrop has tandem axles. I bought an old travel trailer, stripped it down, and wala, the teardrop has began to take shape.

I might get ejected from the forum before I even get started.

Well, I'm feeling good now, I know I'm not going to get laughed at. Mike, that is a heck of a trailer, I think mine will be a tad bit shorter both in height and length.

Can you tell me what you skinned that with? I bet you aren't worried about the space, there must be lots of confortable space and storage in your ? so does it have a name?

Oh my gosh, I have been the victim of the head honcho’s humor! I’ll chalk it up as paying the membership fees to belong to this happy group of traditionalist and of course this fine forum. Mike, you were so kind to take the time to enhance that teardrop; I must say it finally looked different from all the rest. It is good to see you can think outside the box - Good Job.

As promised to Madjack and Bledsoe, a picture, notice its traditional shape, there won’t be a microwave, no radio antenna, there might be some extra storage and I sure won’t be complaining about the short bed, you see, I’m on the taller side too. I might even put a heater in it, out here in Oregon, we really don’t need air-conditioners, we don’t have the humidity like people on the East coast and the great lakes area. (Hey, I'm just yanking chains, I'm really not a bad person)
