Seeking DIY door advice or tips
Posted: Thu Apr 27, 2017 9:06 amHere's my starting point for the doors. I have a few questions before proceeding, and was hoping to get some advice from folks who have already built their doors in a similar fashion.
Door material - Should I use 3/4" birch plywood skinned with 1/4" birch ply to build the door or use the same sandwich technique that I used on the walls with 1x's skinned with plywood.
Hinges for the door - I've considered using stainless steel strap hinges like these
or should I use a stainless piano hinge? Pros/cons?
Trim - Considering using something like this to trim the outer edge of the door and the door frame
There is a ton of information on doors on this forum, and I've read most of it. There are just so many options available. Any advice or tips from someone who"s done something similar would be helpful. I'll put up a second post with a build pic of my door opening to help picture what I have so far.
