Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Hello,
I am putting my to buy list together for the easy weekender. Can somebody recommend what type/size of plywood I need for the walls?
I am planning to have speaker carpet inside without insulation. What do you guys think?

Hi Chiliz,

Welcome to the forum.

You can easily build the weekender with 1/4" luan and stick framing. Throw some inexpensive insulation in the wall and you've got a winner.

Of course if you want to do solid plywood walls and carpet on the inside that'll work too. Home Depot has a special on maple plywood for $29 a sheet. With a little craftsmanship, that would also yield you a beauty!

3/4 plywood would be enough or I need to go thicker? should I use the same for the floor?

3/4" would be more than enough for the sides. If light weight is what your after then 1/2" for the floor would sufice.

If you are doing a true weekender, then 3/4" walls and a 3/4" floor will do you good...

Welcome to the light Chiliz...one more item you will need is an inexpensive digital camera to take pics with...you will wanna document your build so you can prove you did it and we wanna see your build pics...why you ask...well because we just luv da pics is why

Welcome, I got cabinet grade 3/4 at HD for $24 a sheet and 1/2 sandable for $22. Built the floor with 1/2 and 3/4 for the sides. Gonnado the sides in a few days. After seein' Franks weekender pics I'm pumped

Chiliz--HF is well-known for taking FOREVER to restock these. The whole chain gets them from one manufacturer in China, and a boat leaves there like every few months. We;ve heard some horror stories here about people waiting forever for them.

See if you can get an approximate in-stock date from your local store. If they give you a dumbfounded look, and if you're in a semi-hurry to get started, you may want to look at other options.

Or call another HF store to see if they have it in stock--even if it's a 100-mile drive. You'll save yourself A LOT of aggravation.
