I highly recommend downloading the pdf file up at the top of the screen to any new builder. There is tons of good stuff here!

Even if you are building on a different trailer or using a different profile you will find lots of good information in these plans. And they are free? Wow.

I agree....I started building a Tiny Trailer but quickly realized I had bitten off more that I could chew. The Benroy plans are wonderfully done and it should be a quick build. I have to have it finished by May 18. I have a campout scheduled that weekend and would love to maiden it then!!

by the way I lived in Signal Mountain in 1988 for awhile.....beautiful place. I even have some Civil War slugs from Look out Mountain.

I'm farly new to this board and I am about to start building the Kuffelcreek Cubby. I just downloaded the Generic Benroy plans and was blown away that this great info was free. I will donate to the board in the very near future. Right now I am explaining all of my spending to my accountant (the wife)...I just ordered a 5X8 from Redtrailer.

I'm glad that everyone likes the Generic Benroy Plans. Hope that the ones that are planning on building it as per the plans (or real close) will keep an accurate photographic journal of the build. Posting pictures if part of the agreement that makes them free, you know??? Mike and I will be doing some updates, so make sure to watch the "(Updated x/xx)" at the top of the page to know when things have changed.

Spadinator, my wife and I have a metal detector but haven't been up on Lookout Mountain. We have a lot of fun looking for old things with it. You are right, Signal Mountain is really pretty, we enjoy going up there. We live in Lookout Valley about 5 minutes from Lookout Mountain.

Rampage, if you are like me, you will change your mind about a lot of the things you will do to your tear. There are sooooo many different ways and things one can do to build one. We are having a ball building ours. We spend so much time out in the shop just sitting and drinking coffee and dreaming. The fellows here on the forum are the most friendly and helpful people you could hope to find anywhere.

Okay, I admit, I've bit off more than I can chew at times. Kerry has been a wonderful help keeping me on track, and keeping me focused. He has also been a wonderful editor. Kerry get's a lot of the credit for us getting the Generic Plans done...

Kerry has started writing as well... actually writing the wiring sections, and yesterday writing the battery sections... Hmmm maybe I'm the editor and Kerry is the author now...

So give Kerry an attaboy. I could not have done it without him...

hi all,
my plans were to build the kufflecreek cubby. my 5X8 is on its way to me. i'm considering building the generic benroy insted but i was wondering what you guys thought about building it on top of the frame per the cubby plans instead of trimming the cross members 2in. so that the sides will cover the frame. it seems that i would gain some height by doing it like a cubby. i hope i am explaining this right.

Yep,

You can build on top of the frame rather than cover the frame. That'll give you an extra 3" of height.

Then you can put in an 8" foam mattress and lose the extra 4" of height.

Seriously though, many builders don't want to see the frame, which is why the generic benroy plans shows how to hide the frame. But either way works... just depends on what you want...

Mine is being built on top of the frame. The extra headroom is cool!!! I did have to adjust the height of the cabinet bulkhead and rear bulkheads a bit but it is all working out just fine.
