Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

As some of you have seen my scarey frame pictures, you saw what looked like a bad dream. Actuall, the frame is in remarkable shape, however, the axel did not fair so well and I am not able to repair it, I even had it checked by a mechanic. So, I need to get a new axel, the problem that I have, I got rid of the old axel and I did not measure the hubface to get my starting point so I could make it wide enough so the tires will be outside my tear. The width of my tear is 60" and the spring center is 58". Can anyone tell me what my hubface should be to allow my tires to be outside the tear? Also, can anyone tell me about the companies that are in Rich's list: E-Trailer; BageCo; Redneck Trailers (good and bad). Also, I want electric brakes, I don't know if this makes a difference on the width.

Tony, from your post and pictures it looks like you are using a spring axle...correct? First you need to know the backspacing of the tire/wheel combo you will be using...this is the measurement from the back of the wheel mounting face(what the hub goes against) to the back of the tire sidewall double this for both sides. Next add tire to body clearance, usually 1r2 inches X2 for both sides plus the 60"s for your frame measurement. this should give you your H2H measurement...the brakes should make no difference since they actually fit inside of the wheel however they may affect what type of wheel you use...that should be at least as clear as mud

p.s. for example only...backspace of 3.5"s x 2 + 1" body/tire clearance x 2 + 60" frame width = 79" H2H...if your body hangs down over the frame you will haveta add that also x2 for both sides

I've bought several axels from RedNeck over the years, and have never had any trouble with them. Their prices seem good, and they are convient for me.

Tony, Redneck is my first looksee for most parts...they deal a lotta stuff, have regional wharehouses across the country and have many independent distributors...my local welding supply house is a Redneck dealer and I can get parts thru them with no shipping...that dealer also gives me really good prices...etrailer are real good folks to deal with and they carry the Flexirde brand axles, however they are located in Lubbock Tx and shipping can eat you alive...Never had any dealings with BageCo but they do have a good reputation as does Sixroblles(?) up in the NW
