TearDrop to Benroy and a Fantastic Fan Question!

I started building a TD based of 4X8 plywood and the more I think about, the larger it gets and it will now morph into a 4X9.5 Benroy using Mike's Dr. Rot painting technique.

I have been looking for a Fantastic Fan 5000 and the cheapest I've found is $259.95. Can anyone suggest a better source?

Bandit, When I decided to build mine I decided on a 9X5 right from the start. If you can, why not drop 6" off the length and add 12" to the width. This will give you an extra 7square feet of floor space. Your Galley considerations may limit this, if my memory about your other posts serves me correctly. To me 9.5X4 would appear to be out of proportion. JMHO

My dims are 9.5' Long by 5' wide. I ordered my axle yesterday, a 2K axle with 3.5K hubs for the bigger spindles and 6 lug hubs.

I reviewed the Fantastic Fans. Thanks for the link.
Is it worth getting the fully automatic fan?
Are the fans 110V or 12V DC? Can they be dual voltage?

You did not miss read, I guess I miss stated. These are the side dimensions 9.5' long by 4' high x 5' wide.

Sounds good to me. I am going back to 8' on number two but still 5' wide. Don't worry about the changes you make from your original, this is all part of the process. You can read about others who have changed things as they go. It's all part of the wonderful world of Teardrops

Fantastic Fan --why $$$$ ?

Folks,

As a 'Newbie' I find some things surprising. One of them is the cost of the 'Fantastic Fan' The price certainly is! Can someone tell me just WHY this relatively simple technology costs so much?

Oh, btw, the Uniflex is a good way to hide alterations, etc... Be sure to take before and after pictures...

Jim, as in most things it has a lot to do with market potential and production runs. Not so much the "simple technology" but what they put around it to enable it to be fitted into your trailer. If everyone wanted one you can be sure that the price would decrease. JMHO

...for the stated reasons above and the fact that it is a very hi quality unit...from the very quiet/efficient fan motor to the 11 bladed fan that fills the openning, it is a Cadillac of vent fans...if you want cheaper, goto JCWhitney and get a noisy one that'll last a season or two before you shoot it or it dies anyway and doesn't move near the volume of air
