Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

I've decided to change my Tear to a Weekender Profile.
Mike was very influential in this decision. He doesn't know it yet, but, he is one of those influential type guys.
I will also change the doors to square doors, these doors are for the Tear and its radius's.



I will cut and weld the profile fenders, much like you see on American Chopper with Paul Jr.

Are you sure you want to go that steep on the back angle. You'll lose a lot of valuable working space doing that...

Yep you may want to talk to Frank, he incorporated some minor design tweaks. He showed them to me but otherwise I wouldn't have noticed. He made them for practical reasons more than asthetics. Altough the front closet area retains the look while making better use of the room.

I'm planning mine similar to Mike's "Final Design" except for splitting the back vertical panel similar to the "Mockup." I like the side access panels for propane cyl from the mockup, too.
Question, where did Frank get those windows and door handles? I've looked all over for something suitable. I've considered doing the windows with it had a porthole setup using plexi and wood frames that was pretty watertight. (Interestingly, the boat was called a "Weekender, featured a quenn size bed even!)
It will be a few weeks before I really get started, it's something like 7* (with wind chill) and my garage isn't heated.

Is that your battery sitting in front of the exhaust for the a/c unit?
Do you remove it when you run the a/c?
What is the dimensions and brand/model of your a/c?
I debated on an a/c and heat unit, but have now decided to use a mattress heater and maybe a small ceramic heater. Shore power will be available 98% of the time.
How did you fabricate your fenders? Are they wood or metal?
I could have mine lasered at work and then weld them together or I could build them from wood to help keep weight down.

Yes, that is the battery in front of the A/C Exhaust, no was not planning on moving it when using the A/C. Will not be using the battery when the A/C is on with the exception of night, then using interrior lights, so not worried about the battery getting too hot, as for the A/C it works fine with the battery in place.

The measurements of the A/c are 19" X 12", forgot the deep part. It is one from Homely Depot. A 5500 BTU Unit, with-out remote. Which do not reckonmend. You really need the re-mote cause it's hard to get back, up, under, there to adjust, or turn the unit on. We bought a small ceramic
and it worked fine at Talbot. Am going to make a sliding drawer lid , just open the drawer slide the lid to the front, place heater on top.

Fenders are out of wood, divided all side measurements by 3.

Is this the latest and greatest Weekender drawing?

I just finished putting my HF trailer together this afternoon. (With the sunburn, the trailer and I are about the same color). I was planning to build over the tires and go 5' wide. Gotta add, the 1800# trailer is so much nicer and sturdier than the 1175#. I almost regret using it for the first build after seeing this one go together.

So far, I have seen at least two awesome Weekenders completed with quite a few in progress. I have to say, that design is probably one of my favorites. The wife and I are shopping through the forum looking for what to build on our new trailer and Im pushing for the Weekender.

Why not just extend the roof to the back of the weekender and eliminate the hatch /hinge problem with a standard type rear door .... even more room , and simpler to build ... Weekender +
