Building my first TD... I need to make up my mind about skins. Ill do the roof in aluminum but I have a local steel roof supplier that sells 40" x10' flat 28g sheets in about 20 different colors. He says he can cut them to any size. I'm thinking that I could do a half and half horizontal with two colors... Has anyone ever used steel for side skins?

I've seen plenty photo's of corrugated steel panels used in teardrop construction.
Most of the corrugated stuff is seen on rat rod style campers. However it is still steel.

I realize you plan to use flat panels. From a material stand point steel has been used.

Home built tears have been around for ages. I would bet every kind of material you could think of has been used a few times or more over the years. Using what's readily available to you is a good way to go in my book. I personally would talk to the material provider for some install tips/tricks. Tell him what you plan to do and see what they say about it.

Good luck with your build. Most of all have fun.

FYI: there was a teardrop builder in Spokane, Wash that is building their trailers using "Stainless Steel" for sides. (I think I had read .020 thick) If I remember right, the name of the trailer company was "Overland Trailer"

If you use steel for the side walls, make sure there is no electrical connection to the aluminium roof.
